Spring is a great time to take stock of what's important to you. Let go of what is unwanted to make room for what is needed. It's a great time to notice all the ways you are speaking life into yourself and others and the areas that may need some improvement.
Wellness with Gina is all about the MIND - BODY - BEHAVIOR connection. Within all three of those facets you can put the totality of your life. What (how) you think affects how your body reacts and recovers from stress; which in turn affects the choices you make. Remember: You are either moving toward healthy or away from healthy. There is NO neutral. No neutral thoughts, no neutral behaviors. It's a feed back loop that gets triggered by our thoughts and feelings.
Here are just a few tips to get you started on spring cleaning your life.... 1. Clean up your relationships. Having solid connections with friends and family is one of the core aspects of health. If you have some toxic people in your life, it might be time to let that go. 2. Rediscover your talents. There is no one quite like you! We each have unique gifts. It might be time to get reacquainted with yours! Spend some time doing the things that bring you joy and fill you up. You are a gift! When we share our gifts we are blessing to others. 3. Declutter. We all suffer from decision fatigue. We are stimulated to the inth degree! Let go of what you can. What can you put on autopilot? It might be time to re-evaluate your priorities/schedule. Also take some time to declutter your space. Take a look at your living space, your car, your office, your closet. Channel your inner Marie Kondo and get to work! If you don't LOVE it--let it go. 4. Clean up your diet! You knew I was going to talk about food. Spring is a great time to start looking at what's going in. Remember that mind-body-behavior connection? What we eat definitely affects how we feel (literally) and will lead us into making healthy or unhealthy decisions. What you eat feeds your microbiome (your gut bacteria). Your gut produces 85% of the happy hormone serotonin. When you feed it junk food you feel like junk. Are you eating the recommended 7-13 fruits and veggies daily? If not you may want to consider supplementing. If you decide not to revamp your eating lifestyle, choose the easy button and start taking a whole food supplement to get the nutrients from fruits and veggies that our bodies desperately need. For $2.50 a day you could be feeding your gut the nutrients from 30 fruits and veggies! I wonder what a difference that would make for you? 5. Check your attitude. Mindset is everything! Are you an open or closed minded person? Can you command your emotions or do they command you? Find gratitude every single day in the smallest of things. A positive/open mindset is like a muscle. We need to exercise our mind muscle just like you exercise your physical muscles. Practice gratitude so that when you need that positivity your mind will naturally gravitate toward it.
